I am currently building 6-8 guitars annually and make my instruments available directly to players. I always keep at least one demo instrument on hand in the studio. Although I am happy to ship an instrument for your approval, whenever practicable, I strongly encourage players to visit my studio. It affords the player an opportunity to try any instrument available at the time and to discuss any specific adjustments or custom commissions. This approach has afforded me the opportunity to develop a personal relationship and element of trust with my clients.
The images below are examples of some of my recent work. You can click on any image for an enlarged view of the guitar, the specifications and the price of the instrument.
***PLEASE NOTE*** As of January 2013 I will no longer be accepting orders for steel string guitars. Call me for remaining selection.
CONCERT CLASSICAL NYLON STRING GUITARS
My standard classical guitar is a 650 mm scale instrument. The standard instrument is built using East Indian rosewood and either western red cedar or various species of spruce top woods. All the woods used to create my guitars are well seasoned, as most of my wood supply has been curing in my shop for over twenty years. My rosette is made from natural and dyed veneers and all of the purfling and bindings for the guitar are made in my shop. The standard finish is a hand-applied French polish of shellac. I am currently using Waverly/Sloane tuners on my instruments. The standard classical guitar is currently priced at $5500.
GRAND CONCERT STEEL STRING GUITARS
My standard steel string guitars are both grand concert size instruments. The smaller is a 635 mm scale (25 inch) guitar with 12 frets clear to the body. The scale length, light bracing and dimensions of the guitar yield a rich, warm tone and are intended to compliment the fingerstyle player or classical guitarist looking for a "cross-over" instrument. The standard instrument is built with a slotted peghead and East Indian rosewood with various species of spruce or western red cedar top woods. The finish is a hand-applied French polish of shellac. I am currently using Waverly/Sloane tuners on these instruments. The standard 12 fret guitar is priced at $5000.
The larger guitar is built with a 640 mm scale (25 1/4 inch)and with 14 frets clear to the body. This guitar is also lightly braced and offers a broad tonal palate and ease of playability intended to delight the fingerstyle player. The standard instrument is built with a slotted peghead and East Indian rosewood with various species of spruce or western red cedar top woods. The finish is a hand-applied French polish of shellac. I am currently using Waverly/Sloane tuners on these instruments. The standard 14 fret guitar is priced at $5000.
PARLOR SIZE STEEL STRING GUITARS
This instrument answers the call for a small body instrument with a big guitar sound. The sound profile is very similar to the 12 fret grand concert guitar. The guitar has a 635 mm scale (25 inch) guitar with 12 frets clear to the body. The standard instrument is built with a slotted peghead and East Indian rosewood with various species of spruce or western red cedar top woods. The finish is a hand-applied French polish of shellac. I am currently using Waverly/Sloane tuners on these instruments. The standard parlor guitar is priced at $5000.
All of my instruments are provided with an arched top and back, black vinyl covered, hard shell case. I am happy to provide a quote for an instrument using Brazilian rosewood, other scale lengths, tonewoods, finishes, hardware, cases or other custom features as you may require.
